THE HELLFOLK

The Hellfolk

The cursed halflings of Nerin Toth are the most abhorred, repulsed, reviled, and untrusted race of all. Halfling folk in general aren't liked much by other races as it were, often being blamed for bad decisions made by others, and usually looked at as the cause of every mishap that occurs. But HELLFOLK are despised on another level.

During the infamous 46 year long Halfling War, Hoopy Waffletosser, a self-taught necromancer and the mascot of the Ft. Fiel Firelings Popperball team, a halfling of little reknown, fell in battle due to an errant flying cat from a cat-a-pault attack but not before cursing the Toadlicker bloodline with the evil of the deity, Zet.

The Toadlicker's lineage would grow slightly shorter than all other halflings so Hoopy could always look down on them, their skin would become ashen like ghosts so others would always fear them, their hair and eyes would become unnatural vibrant colors so others would always make fun of them, and their blood would become acidic and harmful to others so they could never form a pact with other halflings to break the curse.

In what was a turn of events unexpected by the fallen Hoopy, the Hellfolk's curse didn't stop them. Instead it empowered the lineage and pushed them into a vicious view of the undead world, believing other races to be just as bad as the zombies. They became experts with a natural understanding alchemy. Bottling their acidic blood, or dipping weapons in it is a common practice of Hellfolk. Minotaur blood magic casters fear them beyond all other races due to the blood magic spells causing more damage than good to the minotaurs.

Most Hellfolk reside in the Hulderk Mountains along with the dark elves. Neither of these races trust one another but begrudgingly live in peace. Trade occurs between them, although it is rare.

A Hellfolk found anywhere else is often hunted down and never heard from again.
